Every formula targets a specific hair type or concern: growth, volume, curls, dry hair, damage, frizz or oily scalp. Many people use more than one system, because hair and scalp often have more than one priority.

Wet your hair and the bar well. Swipe the bar from the roots of your hair down to the tips, then along your front and back hairline, adding water as you go. Set the bar down, then lather as usual with your fingertips, gently massaging your scalp. Rinse well.

While your hair is very wet, warm the conditioner bar under running water for a couple of seconds. Swipe it down the lengths of your hair, focusing on the ends rather than the scalp. Rinse lightly, swipe again over any tangles, and leave it on for 1 minute. Rinse lightly for extra detangling, or rinse thoroughly for a weightless feel.

Each bar lasts about 60–90 washes, depending on hair length, density, how often you wash and how you store the bar. Each bar contains the active ingredients of roughly a 16 oz bottle of premium liquid shampoo or conditioner, which works out to about $0.30 a wash.

Bar & Bar formulas are tested to be residue-free. If you have product buildup from your previous shampoo and conditioner, it may take a few washes for your hair and scalp to fully reset.

The conditioner bar is highly concentrated: a few swipes and a splash of warm water create a creamy, luxurious feel.
